Overview

Template:Distribution-Info is the blue information box on the top-right of every distribution page. It is not to be confused with Template:Misc-Info, which is used for custom tracks and characters, or Template:Software-Info, which is used for software. Due to how this template is formatted, it is also designed to be used on most custom game mode pages.

Example

This example does not include all available parameters. Read below for an exhaustive list regarding what is available.

Parameters

All parameters are listed below with examples. The parameters should be entered into the template in the order that you see them on this page. The example demonstrates this with the parameters it does use.

While it is not required to include as many of the lesser important parameters (e.g., online region) as possible in the template, it is encouraged to do so.

Name

The name of the distribution.

  • Usually, the distribution name will be the same as the page name; when this is the case, use PAGENAME.
  • If there are other distributions with the same name and the page title contains brackets to show who made a particular distribution version, use PAGENAME.
    • Note that this will remove everything from the opening bracket onward and should not be used if brackets are used multiple times in the title — see third example for how to work with a page title having multiple brackets.
  • For all other cases, the name can be anything else.
Page Title Actual Distribution Name Arguments Output
CTGP Revolution CTGP Revolution name= PAGENAME
CTGP Revolution
CTGP Revolution (MrBean35000vr & Chadderz) CTGP Revolution name= PAGENAME
CTGP Revolution
CTGP Revolution (Alternate Version) (MrBean35000vr & Chadderz) CTGP Revolution (Alternate Version) name= CTGP Revolution (Alternate Version)
CTGP Revolution (Alternate Version)

Cover

The cover of the distribution (if available). This is automatically centered and has its image size set to 250px. Do not try to change this; it will not work and the image will not display.

  • If the distribution has no cover, remove this line entirely.
Argument Output
cover= Wiimms Mario Kart Boost 2012-03 Cover.png
Cover:
File:Wiimms Mario Kart Boost 2012-03 Cover.png

The logo of the distribution (if available). This is automatically centered and has its image size set to 210px. Do not try to change this; it will not work and the image will not display.

  • If the distribution has no logo, remove this line entirely.
Argument Output
logo= Aurora Logo.png
Logo:
File:Aurora Logo.png

Author

The author(s) of the distribution.

  • If there is no known author, leave it blank. It will automatically fill the field with "Unknown".
  • If there are multiple authors, they should be separated by a comma, followed by a space.
  • If a "Team" parameter exists and is not empty, the heading will be renamed from "Author(s)" to "Main author(s)".
Arguments Output
author=[1]
Author: Unknown
author= MrBean35000vr
Author: MrBean35000vr
author= MrBean35000vr, Chadderz
Authors: MrBean35000vr, Chadderz
  1. This also applies to the line being missing entirely.

Team Name

A custom name for your distribution team.

  • If this parameter does not exist or is blank, it will default to "Distribution Team".
  • Nothing will appear at all if a "Team" parameter does not exist.
  • Do not include the colon, as this is entered automatically. Trying to add a colon yourself will just result in two colons at the end of the heading.
Argument Output
|team name= Cosmos Team
|team= Name 1, Name 2
[1]
Cosmos Team: Name 1, Name 2
  1. "Team" parameter used to illustrate that this will not work if you only have a "Team name" without "Team".

Team

If your distribution has a team which should not be considered as authors, list them here.

  • This is a required prerequisite for the "Team Name" parameter to work.
  • If the distribution team is identical to the authors (or only contains individuals listed in the "Authors" paremeter), do not use this parameter.
  • If there are multiple team members (there should be), they should be separated by a comma, followed by a space.
  • By default, the name of the team will default to "Distribution Team". See the "Team Name" parameter for how to change this.
Arguments Output
team= Name 1, Name 2
Distribution Team: Name 1, Name 2
|team name= Cosmos Team
|team= Name 1, Name 2
Cosmos Team: Name 1, Name 2

Type

The manner in which the distribution is loaded (i.e., Riivolution, My Stuff, etc.).

  • If there are multiple distribution types, they should be separated by a comma, followed by a space.
  • If one of the types is a WBFS or ISO file (not an ISO Patcher, which is allowed), stop. Providing disk images is strictly against the Wiiki Rules.
Arguments Output
type=[1]
Type:
type= Riivolution
Type: Riivolution
type= Riivolution, ISO Patcher
Types: Riivolution, ISO Patcher
  1. This also applies to the line being missing entirely.

Supported Region

Not to be confused with the "Region" parameter, which represents the region used when connecting online.

The supported game regions (i.e., PAL, NTSC-U) for the distribution.

  • If there are multiple supported game regions, they should be separated by a comma, followed by a space.
  • All of the game regions have their own pages, so they should be linked here. See how this is done in the examples.
Arguments Output
supported region= PAL
Supported region: PAL
supported region= PAL, NTSC-U, NTSC-J, NTSC-K
Supported regions: PAL, NTSC-U, NTSC-J, NTSC-K

Wii ID

The custom title ID(s) which the distribution uses.

  • If the distribution uses no custom title IDs, remove this line entirely.
    • This also means that it should not include "RMCP01", "RMCE01", "RMCJ01", "RMCK01" or any other title IDs used by actual Wii games.
  • If there are multiple title IDs, they should be separated by a comma, followed by a space.
  • If available, use a hyperlink for each individual ID to link to their GameTDB page. This is demonstrated in the fourth example
Arguments Output
wii id= RMCP10
Wii ID: RMCP10

The online service(s) used to play the distribution.

  • If the distribution in question has no impact on the online service used, especially if it is a My Stuff distribution, there is no reason to include this line.

  1. This also applies to the line being missing entirely.

Date of Release

  3. Used when the year of release is known, but nothing more specific.

Download

The download link(s) for the distribution.

  • Depending on the website, you can paste in the link without having to go through the standard method of hyperlinks. See Template:Extract-Server for details of regarding which websites this applies to.
    • If, when this applies, you would like to add a comment beside the download link, such as it having a specific purpose, add a space following the URL and store said comment between brackets. See the third example for how this works.
  • If more than one download link is provided, there should be a new parameter for each download link. Additional download links should be entered in the line below the previous download link, labelled download2=, download3=, and this can continue up to download10=. An example of this with two download links can be seen on the fourth example.

Download Note

Before Using This Parameter
Use this very sparingly. It has only been included in this template at all because major distributions, such as Retro Rewind and Insane Kart Wii, have faced a significant number of tech support requests with the same issue(s). This parameter is therefore used in an attempt to reduce such requests. Do not include this unless you absolutely have to.

Provide a bullet point underneath a particular download link, giving a brief comment if a certain issue may be faced.

  • Currently, this only supports one note per download link. If you need an extra note for a download link, contact the Wiiki Team as this template will need to be edited. Consider very carefully whether this is needed, as it is already discouraged to have even a single note if it is not absolutely necessary.
  • The first note should always be specified as download-note=
  • Like the download parameter, the number increases regarding which download you would like to note. For instance, if you wanted to note the third download link, the parameter should be inserted as download-note3=. Again, like the download parameter, this continues up to download-note10=.
  • Insert the note parameter directly underneath the download link parameter you would like have a note for. Underneath the note parameter, include the next download link, if there is one. This is demonstrated in the real-world example below.
Argument Output

download= http://update.rwfc.net:8000/RetroRewind/zip/RetroRewind.zip (Full download)

download2= http://update.rwfc.net:8000/RetroRewind/zip/1.8.zip (Patch only)

download-note2= If the download does not start, please copy and paste the download link into your browser address bar. Make sure the link starts with
http://
.

download3= https://github.com/TeamWheelWizard/WheelWizard/releases (WheelWizard, use this for Dolphin)

Download:

Community Server

If the distribution has a community server, link it here.

  • Unlike the Download and Source Code parameters, this does not make use of Template:Extract-Server when links are provided. URLs must be provided in the same way as you would on any other page.
    • The displayed text must be the name of the server.
  • If the distribution does not have a community server, remove this line entirely.
Argument Output
community server= Retro Rewind
Discord server: Retro Rewind

Social media

The social media relevant to your distribution.

  • Depending on the platform, you can paste in the link without having to go through the standard method of hyperlinks. See Template:Extract-Server for details of regarding which websites this applies to.
    • If, when this applies, you would like to add a comment beside the platform, such as the username, add a space following the URL and store said comment between brackets. See the third example for how this works.
  • If more than one social media is provided, there should be a new parameter for each social media, with social media= being changed to social media 1=. Additional accounts should be entered in the line below the previous social media account, labelled social media 2=, social media 3, and this can continue up to social media 10. An example of this with two social media accounts can be seen on the third example.
Arguments Output
